The Ultimate Pre-Shoot Checklist

Follow this guide to ensure your home looks picture-perfect for the shoot.

1. General Prep (Day Before)

Pro Tip: Grab a laundry basket. Walk through the house and throw all "clutter" (remotes, mail, toys) into it, then hide the basket in the trunk of your car.

De-clutter surfaces: Less is more. Clear counters, tables, and desks completely.
Hide personal items: Family photos, diplomas, and refrigerator magnets should be put away.
Replace bulbs: Make sure all lamps and lights turn on and have matching color bulbs.
Pets: Hide bowls, beds, and litter boxes. Plan to have pets secured during the shoot.

2. The Kitchen (Critical)

The kitchen is the most important room in the house. It must be spotless.

Clear Countertops: Remove toasters, blenders, and knife blocks. Leave only 1 decorative item.
The Fridge: Remove all magnets, calendars, and papers.
The Sink: Hide sponges, soap, and drying racks.
Garbage: Hide the trash can in the pantry or garage.

3. Exterior (Morning Of)

Cars: Move ALL cars out of the driveway and away from the front of the house.
Bins: Hide garbage and recycling bins in the garage or side yard.
Hoses: Coil them neatly or hide them.
Patio: Uncover furniture and open umbrellas.

4. Bathrooms

Toilet Lids: ALWAYS put them down.
Shower: Remove shampoos, loofahs, and razors.
Towels: Hang a fresh, matching set.
Counters: Clear off toothbrushes and makeup.
